The first three chapters of John introduce Jesus, and in a pretty different way to the other Gospels. We start off with the big picture overview: Jesus and God. Then we meet John, who is preparing the way for Christ, and some early interaction between the two where John immediately says “This is the Lamb of God”. And then we have a miracle. Really, John is just driving home the point about Jesus’ divinity here, because then we launch straight into the cleansing of the temple and the prediction of Jesus’ death, a brief speech about new birth from Jesus and another exaltation by John.
