TV Ads from an Australian Childhood

Here are some of the most memorable or influential (in my opinion) ads ever to show on Australian TV, in no particular order (except for the last one, which was placed there for pure shock value [only to non-Australians – wait for it]). I also placed the Sid the Seagull and Louie the Fly ads in chronological order.

The Yellow Pages (2000)

Better known as the “Not Happy, Jan!” ad, that phrase is now in common use to express displeasure. Wikipedia even agrees with this.

QANTAS (1998)

This ad cost most than 3 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive television advertisements worldwide. It features the Australian Girls Choir and the National Boys Choir.

Life. Be In It. (1975)

Slip! Slop! Slap! (1981)
