Seachdain Leughadh?

Feasgar math, a h-uile dhaoine! Ciamar a tha sibh uile an-diugh?

Cha bhi òraid ann an-diugh. ‘S e “seachdain leughadh” a th’ ann!

‘N uair am faca mi “seachdain leughadh” anns a’ chlàr-ama, bha mise a’ smaoineachadh “Ò, dè tha seo? An e ‘seachdain leabhar’ a th’ ann?”

Tha seachdaine leabhar ann an-seo anns a’ bhùn-sgoil ann an Astràilia, agus bha mise a’ smaoineachadh, “Carson a tha seachdain leabhar ann aig an oilthigh?”

Ach an uair sin, bha mi a’ lorg mu dheidhinn “seachdain leughadh” air Google, agus dh’innis Wikipedia dhòmh gu bheil swot-vac ann an seachdain leughadh, ach thuirt e cuideachd nach eil “swot-vac” an t-ainm air “seachdain leughadh” ach ann an Astràilia!

Ach… ‘s e an t-ochdamh seachdain nan bhliadhn’-sgoile nan leth-chruinne-a-tuath a th’ ann an seachdain seo. Carson a tha swot-vac ann a-nis?

Ach… ‘s e swot-vac a th’ aig mo phiuthar agus na daoine eile anns a’ dheaicheamh bliadhna ‘is deug ann an Astràilia a-nis.

Swot Vac

Good evening, everyone! How are you today?

I’m not doing a monologue this week. It’s “reading week”!

When I saw “reading week” on the timetable, I thought, “Oh, what’s that? Is that ‘book week’?”

Book week is something we have here in primary schools in Australia, and I was thinking, “Why are they having book week in a university?”

But then I Googled “reading week”, and Wikipedia told me that it’s actually swot-vac, and it also said that it’s only called “swot-vac” in Australia!

But… it’s only the eighth week of the northern hemisphere school year this week. Why are we having swot-vac now?

But… it’s actually swot-vac here in Australia for my sister and other Year 12s at the moment.
